I believe you have commented on this post as well. Students use daily log sheets on a micro scale and checkpoint rubrics (for each stage) on a larger scale. It combines into a constant feedback system. I can always ask to see their log sheets and we will meet about each rubric. I am going to a school in the fall that is focusing on PBL from K-9 and it will be a big shift for all of us. Infusing PBL will probably look different in the elementary grades from the junior high grades. It will be an interesting journey but I feel that it is the right direction to head.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8255957639083024024.post-40984869646822028562012-07-04T11:14:05.218-07:002012-07-04T11:14:05.218-07:00@JustinLanier

With the smaller projects (or tasks as I called them) students often completed work on handouts. We then scanned, named, and filed them. I ended up projecting several on the IWB for class critique. This really helped center the class.
Again, I moved away from this with larger projects. Because they enabled more diversification, I found group-assessment tough. In hind sight, weekly peer-reviews would only help in progress tracking.
The activity logs and progress reports are all going to be filed in their project binder next year. That way we can look through their work, show parents and administrators, and co-costruct evaluation.
Thanks for reading. I will try and get a completed binder framework up ASAP. I am excited about the possibilities.
NatNat Bantinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08088568485640783921noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8255957639083024024.post-83367499978222160322012-07-04T10:59:00.854-07:002012-07-04T10:59:00.854-07:00Thanks for this post! How did the digital archiving of student work go for you? What were the successes and obstacles? With what frequency did it happen? Thanks again!Justin Lanierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11386367931599418555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8255957639083024024.post-84907939419313962272012-07-04T10:12:59.735-07:002012-07-04T10:12:59.735-07:00What you describe here are things that all of us (...What you describe here are things that all of us (with normal students) have experienced in a PBL classroom. You make changes each year. My old rule of thumb was "3 years to get it right." I now have a new rule for PBL: "It should be close in 3 years but you will always be adjusting for the following year."
Great post!Chris Fancherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02050365069063265693noreply@blogger.com
